REAL CIC is a Birmingham social enterprise tackling youth disengagement through creative media. Using filmmaking and immersive learning to build the skills, confidence and pathways into education, employment and the creative industries.

Our Story

REAL began with lived experience and a camera.

REAL was founded by Luke Cato, who grew up in Birmingham experiencing school exclusion, struggling with dyslexia, and being surrounded by street violence from a young age. After turning his own life around, Luke spent over two decades working with young people facing many of the same challenges he once experienced himself.

REAL CIC launched in September 2025 as a dedicated social enterprise, delivering a production hub, development programmes, and outreach work for young people who may feel disconnected from education, employment, or positive pathways.
