what we do.
REAL CIC is in its development phase. The four programmes below describe the model we are building and seeking funding to deliver, anchored in two decades of frontline work with young people in Birmingham.
#1
The Production Hub.
The Production Hub is REAL's home in Birmingham. A dedicated creative space where young people work alongside professional facilitators to develop skills in film, music, and digital production.
Unlike a classroom or training scheme, the Hub operates as a working studio. Young people produce real content, build portfolios, and gain industry experience over time rather than in a single short course. The model is designed for young people who have been failed by traditional education, including those who are neurodivergent, excluded, or facing barriers to mainstream provision. Sessions are practical, hands-on, and led by industry-experienced practitioners. Participants progress at their own pace, supported by mentoring and clear pathways into employment, further training, or higher education. The Hub will also act as a base for REAL's wider work, hosting development programmes, industry events, screenings and Youth Forum activity.
