Not My Son is a powerful short film created in partnership with the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership that explores the subtle warning signs of youth exploitation and the devastating consequences of missed moments.

When a teenage boy’s behaviour begins to change, small concerns start to surface at home. Mood swings, secrecy, and unexplained absences raise quiet questions for his parents, who struggle to decide whether something serious is happening or if it is simply part of growing up.

As the warning signs slowly build, doubt and reassurance cloud their instincts. By the time the truth finally reaches their doorstep, the realisation is painful: the signs were always there.

Not My Son highlights how easily early warning signs can be overlooked and challenges parents, professionals, and communities to recognise the moments that could change a young person’s future before it is too late.
